Hans Edens
Hans Edens is a Dutch writer and multidisciplinary creator whose work explores memory, loss, identity and the echoes we carry with us. At the heart of his writing is a particular passion for fiction drama, blending fantasy with elements drawn from reality and his own lived experience.
Rather than separating imagination from real life, Hans allows the two to inhabit the same space. Memories, emotions, people and experiences can become the seeds from which fictional characters, places and stories grow. Reality provides an emotional truth, while fiction creates the freedom to explore where that truth might lead.
This approach lies at the heart of The Echoes Cycle, his ongoing fiction series. Within its world, the boundaries between what has been lived, remembered, imagined and reinvented deliberately begin to blur. The stories are fictional, yet beneath them lie recognisable human experiences: love and loss, belonging and isolation, grief and resilience, and the ways in which the past continues to shape who we become.
Hans's creative background extends beyond writing into photography, graphic design, music and visual storytelling. He sees these not as separate disciplines, but as different languages for expressing the same inner world. This gives his writing a strongly visual and atmospheric character, with particular attention to place, silence, emotion and the spaces between what is said and what remains unspoken.
His work is especially interested in the traces people leave behind. Memories can change with time, places can hold emotional significance long after we have left them, and those we have lost may continue to influence the stories we tell ourselves. In his fiction, fantasy becomes a way of approaching these realities from another direction, not to escape life, but to look more deeply into it.
At the heart of Hans's storytelling is a simple belief: what disappears from our lives does not necessarily disappear from us.
Through The Echoes Cycle and his wider creative work, he explores those lingering echoes, allowing reality and imagination to meet somewhere in between and asking what our memories, losses and dreams can reveal about who we are.
